This one comes to me unlabeled, but here’s what I know: it’s hip-hop, it’s in a language we aren't familiar with, and it’s a nice change of pace.
About 25 seconds in, these ladies huddle up and make a plan. "Hey girls, I really want to impress these people."
Mutsuhiro Nishiwaki
Mutsuhiro is amazing! He makes music box renditions of songs, from Queen’s "Bohemian Rhapsody" to the Neverending Story theme to… well… Wham! He even does a version of "Careless Whisper."

This is basically a bunch of Portuguese guys doing "Last Christmas" in Gregorian-chant style with a cheesy synth & drum track. Oh, and sleigh bells. Pretty obvious, I know.

Leigh Nash
If the lilting voice and juicy-sweet production values sound ever-so-familiar, here’s why: Leigh Nash was the vocalist for Sixpence None the Richer, who made the crossover from Contempo-Christian-pop in the early 2000s and were virtually inescapable during the Dawson’s Creek era. Yes, it was a simpler time. Ms. Nash has more recently embarked on a solo career, and on her just-released Christmas EP "Wishing For This" you’ll find a cover of, you guessed it, that song.

This was quite an unexpected find, which came to me through a link from Tomorrow Twoday. This is almost like a Portishead cover. Very creepy and very awesome. Though the orchestral versions played a strong game today, Ezio earns the Magical Snowflake award!
It is said that it is the only german cover which is approved by George Michael.
The first lines of his last Christmas lyric are:'Weihnachten/ Ist mir doch egal/ Ich bin 3 Karat Kaugummiautomat/ Schenk dir/ Ohne Papier/ Mein billiges, billiges Herz.'
In english:
'Christmas/ I don't care/ I am 3 carat chewing gum automat/ give you/ without paper/ my cheap, cheap heart.'

The Bachelors also have a singing-in-the-shower vibe going on, but after going to their site, I certainly don’t doubt their artistic credentials. I would tell you more about the band members, Con and Dec, but there’s just too much information for me to summarize. Just go and hear for yourself from their audio greeting. But to give you an idea of how awesome they are, they out-sold the Beatles in 1964! That is quite a feat, and so they earn a Magical Snowflake Award for their achievements.

Multi-Talentdz and a Half
Multi-Talentdz and a Half sound like kids with a midi file and a dream. I can’t quite discern their level of sincerity in wanting to be musicians, but I imagine the recording session may have looked like this youtube Christmas video…
This version feels thin and ethereal. Eve’s heart sounds ripped from her chest. I imagine a sad Emo boy cheating on her with an even thinner blond girl who cuts herself. Is that wrong? Why would he hurt Eve? Is her eating disorder not devastating enough?

I also like what one amazon.com reviewer had to say, “Worth the price of admission just for the revelation that behind Wham's cheesy 'Last Christmas' there was, in fact, a brilliant pop song struggling to escape.”

This is off the 2004 holiday album from the Pop Idol kids of season 2. Much to my dismay, they don’t try anything new with it, much to my pleasure they up the version count. Kudos!
