Are you going for even more pizzazz by adding outdoor Christmas decorations to your usual setup of lights and plastic figures?
One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is decorating the outside of my home because everyone on the entire block really gets into the spirit of the season, and we do things up with style.
And it also took many of my time looking through all the Christmas outdoor decorations that I could find before settling on my targets-to-buy.
I also learned many tips from my neighbors and friends who gave me a lot of insight into the amount of time and money it takes to setup and operate the Xmas decorations.
Let's start!
When it comes to outdoor Christmas remember that less is more!
And this is all true.
There are just too many choices available when you pass by certain houses in some neighborhoods. And their outdoor decorations come in many forms.
Let me ask you a question first.
Will you wear a princess gown along with four diamond chokers and seven ruby bracelets?
I don't think so.
In the same regards you really don't want to overdress your yard during the holiday season.
While it is great to show a lot of spirit, too many outdoor Christmas decorations can really work against your overall effort.
Do you want to know where the problem lies in?
Here is an example...
Have you seen yards that have several moving optical reindeer surrounding a traditionally lighted Christmas tree?. This in itself would be great if it weren't for the other outdoor Christmas decorations cluttering the space.
Imagine one particular yard has all of the above and in addition.
It boasts lighted palm trees, icicle lighting and several blow-up balloon decorations. The poor little yard is completely swallowed up by outdoor Christmas decorations. The whole scene will even scare the little kids in the neighborhood.
That's bad!
The best way to avoid the temptation to go full throttle in the spirit of the holiday season is to show some restraint.
There are ways to keep your self in check when dealing with unique Christmas decoration ideas.
Simply follow a few simple guidelines below so that you can create a festive space without draining the nation's supply of electricity in the process.
i) Choose a theme and stick with it.
The Grinch Who Stole Christmas has no place hovering over a manger scene. Pick one theme and go from there. If you want to pay homage to the Grinch then work around the well known icon in your outdoor Christmas decorations.
If you want to focus on the manger then choose traditional decorations for your yard.
ii) You own it doesn't mean that you have to use it each and every year.
For example, if you love the Nutcracker fiber optic set that you bought but you want to create a traditional country holiday decorating theme.
What should you do for that?
Simple. Just keep the Nutcracker outdoor Christmas decorations in storage until next year.
I know, I know. The winter holidays are a time of great excitement. It can be very difficult to restrain yourself from overdoing it.
However, if you consider those who pass by your home during this wonderful season you may want to keep things simple.
We only have a moment in passing to take everything in. Do you agree?

You'd be surprised at how far a little animation goes towards improving your home's holiday look!
Don't worry if you've never used animated outdoor Christmas decorations before, here are a few questions that you can ask before actually purchasing animated decorations of your own.
For example, you may want to know if the elaborate scenes would be easy to set up on your own, or if you would be better off calling in professionals to help.
You may also want to know if operating animated outdoor Christmas decorations for the entire holiday season would significantly increase my electric bill.
I'm no kidding...after all, you want to spend your money on Christmas gifts, not send it to the utility company!
Every year, I checked out some websites that I was already familiar with from holiday purchases in past years, and saw that I could get some really nice-looking animated Christmas decorations, including Santa and his reindeer, moving snowmen, nativity scenes, elves in a toyshop, and many other traditional designs.
