When I look at this Christmas picture it brings to mind to me the short story I wrote that same Christmas. It involved my daughter and I which should be obvious.
It is a true photo along with a true story.
Here is the Santa Claus letter...
The story of my Santa Claus letter goes like this:
Daddy: Come on sweetie; time to go to bed now.
Sarah: I don't want to go to bed.
Daddy: Sarah your so tired you can't keep your eyes open.
Sarah: Me want to play some more.
Daddy: Come on sweetie; you've been rubbing your eyes for the lst five minutes, time for bed.
Sarah: Me not tired, me want to play hop-on-pop.
Daddy: No jop-on-pop tonight, time for sleepy.
Sarah: No I don't want to sleep (crying; I want mommyto hold me in the rocking chair (still crying).
Daddy: Mommy is busy with your brother, come on I'lllie down with you in your bed.
Sarah: Noooo, I want mommy to hold meee (crying more forcefully).
Daddy: (Holding little girl by the hand) come on, to bed we go.
Sarah: (tearfully) Noooo.
Daddy: (Holding little girl on belly) come on Sarah settle down now, it's time to go to sleep.
Sarah: Noooo, (crying harder) I want mommy to hold me in the rocking chair.
Daddy: Sarah, I told you mommy is busy right now.
Sarah: Noooo, I want mommy.
Daddy: Sarah! Listen! Hear that?
Sarah: (crying ceases) What?
Daddy: Did you her that?
Sarah: (eyes wide) What?
Daddy: I think I just heard Santa on the roof!
Sarah: Santa?
Daddy: Yeah, I think Santa Claus is on our roof! Yep, you hear that! I can hear his reindeers on the roof!
(Momentary Silence)
Sarah: I hear him!
Daddy: You do?
Sarah: Yes, Santa is on our roof! What's he doing here already?
Daddy: (pause) Well you see, Santa comes a few days before Christmas Eve to check on all the little boys and girls.
Sarah: What for?
Daddy: (pause) Well he is just coming by to check and see which boys and girls are being good and obeying their parents and which ones are not listening to their parents and being bad.
Sarah: He does?
Daddy: Yes, that way he will know which boys and girls he will leave toys for.
Sarah: And which ones he won't?
Daddy: Yep.
Sarah: Goodnight Daddy! (little girl slides off daddy's belly, head hits pillow, and eyes
shut tight).
Daddy: Goodnight sweetie. (kiss on cheek)
